Moda su carta: Audrey Hepburn.

Copertina / Front book

The protagonist of this post is a catalogue of the exhibition that Ferragamo Museum dedicated to Audrey Hepburn about ten years ago. At present this book is not available online on the ufficial site, ma surfing a little on the net you can find some copy. This one I have is actually a sweet present from my boyfriend, who decided to buy it for me after I went to the ongoing exhibition of Marilyn Monroe.

Audrey at Ferragamo's

I adore Audrey, so charmy and timeless, beautiful and with an unforgettable glaze. I adore her style, simple but never old. I like to think that her personality was her best dress, that is way she had no need to exagerate with extravangant and eccentric details.

"[...] the clothes were always enhanced by her allure. She simplified the lines to acquire the essential quality that was a hallmark of her style. It was also displayed in her everyday dress: the slim trousers, black pullovers, men's shirts, the trench coat, double-breasted trouser suit, cross-cut skirt, casual low-heeled shoes, the classic handbags with chain handles in various leathers and the scarf at her throat."

A minimal wardrobe but still complete. Despite a different body-shape and different types of clothes as well, I am a truly supporter of "less is more". Some clothes don't feel time passing by, and they can find a new look each season without banality. Those clothes wich are very trendy o particularly 'rich' are the ones that will be forgotten in the closet.

"Ultimately, however, it was Hepburn herself who used the film medium and imposed her own style as a woman on it. Even her personal wardrobe was closely bound up with her image on the big screen. But this was not because she was a slave to it. On the contrary. With her elegance and fragility she would transform the clothes she had chosen and give them an enduring essence."
